Mission The Penn State Altoona Club Rugby Team first met in October of 2015 in the form of an interest meeting open to all male athletes. After being proposed to the university by first year student Camden Haldeman, the club was officially recognized on February 5th, 2016. Then taking the field for the first time competitively on March 26th of the same year.The team consists of players with rugby experience and some who are completely new to the game. Penn State Altoona Club Rugby is coached by Andy Haines, who has 30 plus years of rugby experience. Coach Haines also coaches the junior high school rugby team in Hollidaysburg PA.
Membership BenefitsAs a member of the Penn State Altoona Rugby Club, players will gain the necessary skills to compete in the sport of Rugby. From a simple pass, to learning how to safely tackle, our coaching staff and experienced players make sure that everyone improves at their own pace and develops an understanding of the game. The sport is often referred to as the gentleman's sport, we try to instill in our members the values of respect, honor and accountability on and off the field.
